Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks were reportedly offered multi-year, seven-figure salary deals by WWE but opted to turn them down.

Keeping something a secret in wrestling today is almost impossible. There was a time when fans could watch a live show and have no idea what was going to happen. Hulk Hogan turning heel, Lex Luger appearing on the first episode of Nitro, Chris Jericho's WWE debut. All iconic moments in wrestling history that were as big as they are because nobody spoiled them.

Nowadays, the presence of social media and camera phones means keeping anything under wraps is much easier said than done. It can be achieved from time to time though. The aforementioned Y2J is still a master of it, as he proved at All In. WWE also somehow managed to keep The Hardy Boyz hidden until they appeared in front of what quickly became an understandably raucous WrestleMania 33 crowd.

The latest wrestling secret that is keeping fans guessing is what exactly The Elite is up to. No matter what the group does, fans remain unsure as to whether they are telling the truth or simply throwing us a curveball. Cody Rhodes recently claimed he turned down an offer from WWE. Wrestling Observer Newsletter has backed up those claims, and also reported The Young Bucks were made an offer too.

WON is of the belief that they were pretty substantial offers too. Apparently, Rhodes and The Bucks were all offered multi-year deals by WWE that would have seen them earning seven-figure sums. If that is indeed the case, it was pretty brave of them to turn those offers down. The group must have something pretty big and extremely exciting in the pipeline.

So what is this unknown project? Well, it seems more and more likely that the group will be starting up its own wrestling promotion, All Elite Wrestling. If that project is as huge as the rumors suggest then it's no wonder WWE offered the trio so much money. We will know more come January when all the parties involved are out of contract and have finished up with all of their commitments.
