AEW, which celebrated Dynamite’s first anniversary on TNTin January, is planning to add another hour of programming to its weekly lineup. Earlier this year, AEW and WarnerMedia signed a contract extension for Dynamite to air on TNT through 2023 and announced that AEW would soon launch another weekly show.

This past summer, Cody confirmed that the promotion was planning to use the additional hour to showcase new talent. AEW currently features independent talent on its YouTube show, AEW Dark. In a recent interview with TV Insider, Cody stated that TNT wouldn’t be adding a third hour to AEW Dynamite, rather a separate hour on another WarnerMedia channel.

“We know that this third hour is going to present itself soon. And I don’t mean a third hour of Dynamite.” Cody said. “I mean a separate hour on a WarnerMedia network. We’ll be able to diversify and freshen up the content on a regular basis.”

Cody also said the company is also actively recruiting new talent. “Our opponent in this space was unopposed for 20 years. We’ve already been around a year plus and always been opposed. That opposition will make us continue to pivot and provide fresh content for all the major stars, middle card stars and stars at the bottom of the card,” he added.

AEW was founded on January 1, 2019, by Tony Khan, whose family owns the Jacksonville Jaguars and Fulham F.C. A day later, Cody and The Young Bucks officially signed with the promotion as competitors as well as co-executive vice presidents. Last October, TNT began airing AEW Dynamite, which has been listed by TV Guide at 57 of the top 100 shows on TV. "AEW Dynamite’s arrival was an electric jolt to mainstream wrestling, which had gotten creatively stagnant over the last few years," the magazine said.

AEW Dynamite beat out WWE’s NXT in viewership and more than doubled its competition in the key adults 18-49 demographic in its debut. Although Dynamite’s viewership has declined in recent months, it has still consistently outperformed NXT.
