Recently, Cody Rhodes made waves on Twitter when he absolutely destroyed Disco Inferno for his ridiculous criticisms of modern day wrestling. But this time his notable tweet was a classy show of respect for NXT and an explanation for a question that several of us have had in recent times. With the Dusty Rhodes Classic now becoming an annual tradition for WWE, one fan took to Twitter to ask Cody why he wasn’t in attendance, and then asked why WWE didn’t invite him to attend the tournament in his father's honor. Contrary to Cody's decimation of Disco Inferno, he offered a classy response.

Instead of continuing or starting some heat with WWE that fans assume exists because of his place in Bullet Club, Cody showed his classy side by crediting William Regal and the NXT crew by saying they do a great job honoring his father's legacy. We can’t really argue that seeing him standing next to a trophy would do much more than what is already done. Cody honors his dad all the time by going out and performing at a very high level, and he continues to improve the life of indie wrestlers all around the world by the awareness he brings to wrestling alongside Bullet Club, and there’s just no need for him to return for the finals.

One day we’d all love to see Cody back in WWE, whether that be to compete in the Dusty Classic or to rejoin the main roster, but for now, he’s doing his own thing in Ring of Honor and New Japan. This weekend at Super Card of Honor, he may just have the best match of the entire weekend up against his rival Kenny Omega.

So what do you guys think? Would you like to see Cody show up? Do you agree with him that NXT and their crew do a good enough job honoring Dusty as it is? As always, let us know all your thoughts and ideas in the comments below.
