The person behind Starrcast III, Conrad Thompson, looks forward to having CM Punk at his event, but says don’t to expect him at AEW’s All Out.

The promoter of the Uber-popular Starrcast events talked about the process of landing Punk and how huge it was for the group after trying to land names like Ric Flair and The Undertaker but things didn’t work out. Thompson wasn’t sure a deal was going to come together with a Punk either until a series of quick emails changed things.

Thompson explained:

"I got his email address and we exchanged a few emails over the course of several months. When it seemed like no deal would come together, very quickly one did.” Thompson added that he was thrilled to have CM Punk dusting off and that anything that involves Punk these days will get people interested, especially if the event has anything to do with wrestling.

But, Thompson did want to stress that signing Punk to appear at Starrcast does not have anything to do with AEW. "This is not a piggyback booking. I did not book CM Punk through AEW. He is not going to be at All Out.”

Knowing people are still likely to make that connection, “Anyone having that expectation is probably gonna be disappointed.”

What This Means

People have been saying for a long time that Punk is not coming to AEW. Thompson is another trusted source confirming as much. For fans who are anxiously awaiting his debut, they are bound to be let down.

For AEW, it would have been nice to be able to add Punk considering Jon Moxley is off the show due to an injury but it doesn't change the fact Punk seems to want to have little to do with wrestling and just the fact he almost didn't come to Starrcast III should confirm that.
