Dallas Cowboys' head coach Jason Garrett seems to be on the hot seat every single year, but it doesn't sound like the 2018 season will be his last.

According to Cowboys columnist and writer Jeff Sullivan, Garrett "isn't going anywhere," and a contract extension could be signed soon.

This comes after owner Jerry Jones said on an interview with 105.3 The Fan that Garrett is "the real deal," and that Garrett is capable of guiding the Cowboys to another Super Bowl championship. So despite those rumblings that Garrett was on the hot seat and could get canned after the season, it already sounds like he's safe for at least the start of the 2019 season.

Garrett was hired as head coach in the midst of the 2010 season, taking over for the fired Wade Phillips. After leading Dallas to a 5-3 finish, Garrett had the interim label taken away and became their head coach.

The former Cowboys' quarterback owns a 70-56 record, but the Cowboys have only reached the postseason twice under Garrett's watch, including just one playoff victory. But Dallas has racked up winning records in three of the last four years, so that may be more than enough for Jones to keep him for now.

Dallas sits at 3-3 through the first six weeks, half a game behind the Washington Redskins for first in the NFC East. They're coming off a monumental 40-7 win against the Jacksonville Jaguars and their star-studded defense. Quarterback Dak Prescott has turned a corner after a sluggish start, and the Cowboys are right back in the thick of the playoff race.

But this is America's Team, and it's been over two decades since Dallas last won a Super Bowl. Even though many fans have called for Garrett to be fired, it doesn't sound like Jones feels the same away. We now wait and see when Garrett's upcoming contract extension gets announced.
