It seems as if a deal has been done for Cristiano Ronaldo to move from Real Madrid and Juventus and it has cost the latter quite a bit of cash.

Even before Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal was eliminated from this summer's World Cup, there was speculation that the Real Madrid star was going to be on the move this summer. The Portuguese star has been plying his trade in Madrid for the past nine seasons but wants to tee up a new challenge for himself, and that challenge apparently awaits him in Italy.

No offense to the rest of the sides in Italy's Serie A but the only team in the league that has the clout to lure Ronaldo to their club is Juventus, and it would appear that they have done exactly that. Sky Sports reported on Tuesday that a deal has been struck between the two clubs and it will cost Juve a massive $140 million. That's more than Real paid to sign Ronaldo from Manchester United nine years ago.

The fact that Real has managed to make a profit on Ronaldo must be a silver lining to the fact that the club is about to lose one of the best players in the world. Normally if you sign a player when he is aged 24 and sell him on at the age of 33, you're going to take a significant loss. Not with Ronaldo though. Real has truly gotten its money's worth out of the forward and is about to have even more to spend on his replacements.

While an official announcement has not been made, Sky Sports' sources believe that Ronaldo could be revealed as a Juventus player as soon as today. The Italian club's president, Andrea Agnelli is at his new signing's hotel in Greece today presumably ironing out all of the final details before the groundbreaking transfer is revealed to the world.

The move will certainly change the shape of European soccer heading into the new season. Even though Real Madrid has won the Champions League for the past three seasons, they struggled domestically this year. With coach Zinedine Zidane gone and Ronaldo on his way out the door, all is not well with the Spanish giants. Meanwhile, Serie A champions Juventus may have just signed the final piece of the puzzle that will win them the Champions League next season.
