A match between Dana Brooke and Sarah Logan on WWE Main Event was stopped due to a nasty looking injury suffered by Brooke.
Injuries are commonplace in professional wrestling. In fact, with more rigorous tests in place for things like concussions, wrestlers find themselves on the sidelines more today than they ever have before. However, due to the sport ultimately being a show, sometimes it is hard to tell when a performer is injured and when their selling is simply part of the act.
Take Cesaro, for instance. Last week on Raw, The Swiss Cyborg was defeated in six-person tag action by Ricochet. When Ricochet connected with the 630, he didn't land it quite as nicely as he would have liked. Cesaro's reaction to the miscalculation made it seem as if he was seriously hurt. However, it turns out the former US Champion simply saw an opportunity to play up the miscue and jumped at it.
The injury suffered by Dana Brooke during this week's Main Event taping was most definitely not an example of playing up a mistake. It was also not a part of the show. Brooke was competing against Sarah Logan on the show. The latter sent the former into the ring post. Brooke connected with the post a little harder than she intended and the blood started flowing.
After realizing what had happened, the referee threw up the X sign. That's a symbol to those in charge of the show that something serious is wrong and the match needs to be stopped. As you can see from the fan-caught footage above, Brooke was helped to the back. You can also see a fair amount of blood coming from a cut above her eye.
At the time of typing this, it is unclear exactly how serious Brooke's injury is. Fingers crossed that it was merely superficial and it didn't need anything more than a few stitches to fix it. The worry is the proximity of the injury to Brooke's eye. However, from photos taken by fans at the event, the cut appears to be above her eye. Whatever the case, we hope she's okay and that she has a speedy recovery.
