A story from a former WWE writer has revealed that Daniel Bryan is likely the one responsible for Mustafa Ali's manifestation on the main roster.

Some of the booking decisions made by WWE appear to be completely random. A lot of the time that results in something truly unentertaining, but other times it actually works. The recent NXT call-ups represent both sides of that coin. Ricochet and Aleister Black are currently being showcased appropriately, while the six stars called up before them have all but disappeared.

While NXT call-ups are commonplace, especially right now, moving a Superstar from 205 Live to the main roster is not. In most cases, the call-ups continue to work 205 Live at the same time. Mustafa Ali is the exception to that rule. The former heart of 205 Live was unexpectedly moved to SmackDown Live and became exclusive to the blue brand. Not only that, but he has been getting some big opportunities.

Shortly after arriving on SmackDown Live, he got a pinfall victory over WWE Champion, Daniel Bryan. He has been no flash in the pan either as aside from being sidelined via an injury for a few weeks, Ali's push has continued. Former WWE creative team member Kazeem Famuyide shed a little light on who might be responsible for that on The Wrasslerap Podcast.

Famuyide told a story about a time when Bryan stormed into the WWE writers' room and questioned who the company's next big babyface was going to be. "He kicks the door open and he is like “Hey! We need a hot young babyface right now!”,' the former writer explained. Apparently, it was clear that he was messing around, but there was also an element of seriousness to his request. Famuyide believes that Bryan may have had a similar outburst recently which resulted in the SmackDown Live arrival of Ali.

All of the above makes a lot of sense. We can't imagine Vince McMahon approaching Bryan and telling him that he's going to be pinned by a 205 Live Superstar. However, we definitely believe Bryan pitching the idea to Mr. McMahon. Then once the boss got a good look at what Ali can do, he knew Bryan's idea was a good one. What we now want to know is what Ali's role will be at WrestleMania. That might become clearer on tonight's SmackDown Live.
