In April of 2000, David Arquette starred in a movie titled Ready to Rumble in which he played a professional wrestling fan who helps his favorite wrestler seek revenge on a deceitful promotor. The film, which used wrestlers from the former World Championship Wrestling promotion, starred Goldberg, Diamond Dallas Page and Sting.

To promote the fim, Arquette appeared on the WCW, where he won the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. His presence was ill-received by wrestling fans, who viewed Arquette’s crowning as champion as an insult to those who had won before.

Arquette, who grew up as a wrestling fan, also had issues with the storyline and found his championship win unacceptable. Twenty years later, Arquette has released a new documentary, You Cannot Kill David Arquette, which shows Arquette trying to gain acceptance in the wrestling community.

The film shows Arquette nearly being killed in the ring while participating in a deathmatch and interviews with his ex-wife Courtney Cox, who expresses her embarrassment with Arquette’s run in WCW. In an interview with Sportnet, Arquette discusses the film, his love of wrestling and a potential comeback.

He says he doesn’t blame the wrestling community, but he does admit he set a low bar for himself, thinking he could use his fame to succeed as a wrestler. He also says that after surgery, when he had two stents put in his heart, he told his wife, Christina McLarty, that he’d thought about wrestling a lot, and was considering making a documentary. She eventually produced the film.

He decided to tour the indie circuit and worked with wrestlers like RJ City and Peter Avalon, who was his trainer. He eventually learned valuable lessons about wrestling and began to understand the business. In the documentary, he says he’s an actor, who wants to become a wrestler.

He also gained the respect of a lot of his fellow wrestlers and even earned the respect of the crowd. He also became friends with AEW star “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry, the son of his late friend Luke Perry, who he considers a superstar. He has also considered the possibility of joining AEW or WWE at some point. You Cannot Kill David Arquette will be available across all digital and on-demand platforms on Aug. 28, 2020.
