Despite advertising suggesting Dean Ambrose and Nia Jax will clash at an upcoming live event, apparently, the match has already been scrapped.

WWE shocked all of us watching Royal Rumble a couple of weeks ago by having Nia Jax enter the men's match. Only a small handful of female Superstars have ever entered the men's Royal Rumble, and since there is now an entirely separate women's Rumble match, we never thought we would see it happen again.

Turns out Jax clashing with her male peers was not a one-time thing. Since then, WWE has seemingly been flirting with the idea of a rivalry between her and Dean Ambrose. It started the night after the Rumble when Jax assisted The Lunatic from the ring by elbowing him in the back of the head. The feud between the two continued to tick over this past week on Raw.

A local advert for an upcoming live event in Arkansas suggested that WWE was indeed planning to go all the way with this rivalry. The two were advertised to go one-on-one in what WWE was labeling an "intergender special attraction." Matches that happen at live events are usually indicative of what WWE has planned for future on-air storylines. However, apparently the recently highlighted ad is outdated.

John Pollock of Post Wrestling has reported that the locally advertised match is no longer taking place and that he has confirmed that with WWE sources. While that is unsurprising considering WWE's stance on intergender wrestling, it does beg the question of where this rivalry is going. If Jax and Ambrose aren't going to compete in a match, then why do they continue to butt heads on Raw?

The underlying factor that will inevitably be pointed at from now on with anything involving Ambrose is that he is on his way out of WWE. The Lunatic is in the odd situation of still being featured on TV despite being on his way out the door in a little more than two months. He will likely lose a fair few matches between now and then, and we thought that one of those losses would have been at the hands of Jax.
