WWE superstar Dean Ambrose may have been injured during a show in Tupelo, Mississippi, just weeks before WrestleMania 35 - when his contract expires.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio was first to break the news (via Ringside News), although he hasn't received all the details from WWE.Few other details have been reported since, and it's unknown if the injury is serious and if it'll keep Ambrose out of action long.

The Lunatic is departing from WWE when his contract expires after WrestleMania 35, so it'd obviously be a huge disappointment if he couldn't wrestle again before departing from the company.

Ambrose's injury comes at a terrible time for WWE, with a handful of their top superstars currently nursing injuries. A.J. Styles (sports hernia), Seth Rollins (back), and Becky Lynch (knee), have all been resting as they try to recover and be fresh for WrestleMania on Apr. 7. All three superstars should be good to go then, but the injuries will affect the buildup for their respective matches on the Grandest Stage of Them All.

WWE has yet to hint at who Ambrose's final feud with could be, as he prepares to finish up his illustrious run with the company.

Ambrose suffered a torn triceps injury in Dec. 2017 and was out of action for eight months. Now, we await to see what sort of injury the former WWE Champion could have, as his run with the company quickly winds down.

It's been rumored that Ambrose could leave for the new All Elite Wrestling promotion, which has been pushing hard in signing away some disgruntled superstars from WWE. Perhaps Ambrose will be heading there once his contract expires.

What This Means

WWE fans can only hope that Ambrose isn't seriously injured, and that he'll be good to go for WrestleMania 35. Say what you want about his decision to depart, but Ambrose deserves to go out on a high note, and it'd be a huge disappointment of this injury prevented him from wrestling in WWE one more time.
