Golden State Warriors All-Star center and prized free agent signing DeMarcus Cousins has yet to play for his new team, but Logan Murdock of the Mercury News reported that he's targeting a return date some time after Christmas.

The 28-year-old Cousins suffered a torn Achilles in January and had to miss the second half and entire postseason with the New Orleans Pelicans. Cousins signed a one-year deal worth $5.3 million with the Warriors in the offseason, but his highly-anticipated debut continues to be prolonged.

Golden State hasn't played up to his usual standards this season, with star point guard Stephen Curry and defensive stalwart Draymond Green missing time due to injuries. Because of this, the superstar-studded starting five of Green, Curry, Cousins, Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant have yet to all appear on the court together this season.

The Warriors sit at 14-7 on the season, good for second in the Western Conference right now. But when Cousins, Curry and Green are all healthy, the Warriors will surely reclaim their status as the team to beat in the NBA, if they even lost it to begin with.

Cousins averaged 25.2 points, 12.9 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game for the Pelicans last season. Head coach Steve Kerr already said the Warriors won't be able to afford Cousins next season, but they wanted to help him get a ring before hitting free agency again next year.

What This Means

The Warriors don't need all of their starters healthy right now, but rather for playoff time. In the last two years, the Warriors haven't played up to their best standards during the regular season, but they cruised through the postseason en route to winning the NBA Championship.

But when Cousins finally makes his Warriors debut, we'll be getting a look at perhaps the most dominant starting five in NBA history.
