The Phoenix Suns are among the worst teams in the NBA once again this season, but there is a promising core built around Devin Booker, Josh Jackson and No. 1 pick from this year's draft, Deandre Ayton.

Phoenix is last in the Western Conference with a 4-15 record - only the 4-16 Atlanta Hawks are worse right now. All signs point to Phoenix being in the draft lottery once again. At the very worst, they'll have another top-five draft pick.

In an era where champions are being built via the superteam route, Suns star Devin Booker wants his team to use a similar approach as they try to win their first championship in franchise history.

"Dynasties only last for so long. I'm not wishing trades upon any of the superteams," Booker said, via Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo Sports. "I'd like to build a superteam. I'd like the superteam to come to me."

The 22-year-old Booker signed a five-year, $158 million contract extension in the offseason, devoting his future to Phoenix. He's the nucleus that the Suns will build around, and now the goal is to supply Booker with more talent.

Booker is averaging 24.9 points, 7.1 assists and 3.7 assists per game this season, as he continues to get better and better each year.

What This Means

Though the 2019 free agent class could include Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard and Jimmy Butler, none of those players have been linked to the Suns. If Phoenix wants to build a superteam, the trade route may be their best bet.

The Suns are better off building their "superteam" the same way the Philadelphia 76ers have. Philly drafted superstars Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons, then dealt young assets to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for veteran All-Star, Jimmy Butler.

With Booker, Ayton and Jackson in the fold, the Suns have the foundation of an up-and-coming team in place. If they can keep loading up on more young talent, the front office can patiently wait for its chance to eventually deal some of those assets for a superstar down the road.
