Free agent wide receiver Dez Bryant will be meeting with the Cleveland Browns on Thursday in hopes of finally signing a contract, according to Dianna Russini of ESPN.com.

Bryant was released by the Dallas Cowboys in April in a salary-dumping move, and he continues to wait for a job offer. The Browns could certainly use a former Pro Bowl at wideout, especially with Josh Gordon's status in question for the 2018 season.

The three-time Pro Bowler caught 69 passes for 838 yards and six touchdowns in 2017. Bryant dealt with injuries in the previous two seasons, which led to a decline in his production. He had topped 1,000 receiving yards every year from 2012 to 2014, but hasn't come close to doing so again ever since.

Thus far in his career, Bryant has totaled 531 catches for 7,459 yards and 73 touchdowns. When healthy, he is among the league's toughest players to defend against, thanks to his supreme athleticism, hands and size (6-foot-2, 220 pounds). But Bryant has also had well-documented attitude issues, and he's wasted no time ripping the Cowboys on social media for cutting ties with him.

The Browns are coming off an 0-16 season, however, and need to surround quarterbacks Tyrod Taylor and Baker Mayfield with as much talent as possible. Without Gordon, newly-acquired wideout Jarvis Landry is the only reliable pass-catcher, though running back Carlos Hyde promises to boost the ground game.

If the Browns signed Bryant, they'd have two of the league's top-20 wide receivers by far, and it's been a long time since the team has bolstered a pair of great pass-catchers. If Bryant can promise to keep a calm head and work as a team player, this could be a worthwhile addition for the Browns.

We should find out later this week if Cleveland is willing to give Bryant another chance, or if the 29-year-old will have to wait once to land his next contract.
