Even though the Jacksonville Jaguars are one of the biggest disappointments in the NFL this season, it doesn't appear as though head coach Doug Marrone will be paying a price for it.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Marrone's "in no trouble," as the Jaguars prepare for another non-playoff season despite entering 2018 as a trendy pick to win the Super Bowl.

Rapoport noted that the Blame isn't entirely on Marrone, who guided Jacksonville to the AFC Championship Game last season - where they nearly upset the heavily favored New England Patriots on the road.

Marrone's Jaguars won the AFC South with a 10-6 record last season, marking their first postseason berth in 10 years. Marrone had taken over for the fired Gus Bradley in mid-2016, and quickly built the Jagaurs into one of the NFL's best defensive units.

Injuries to key players like star running back Leonard Fournette and top wide receiver Marqise Lee haven't helped, and Jacksonville has lost so many closes games that could have easily gone their way.

Most of the struggles come from the offense, where quarterback Blake Bortles has struggled. It's safe to wonder if the Jaguars will move on from Bortles after this season, with a plethora of veteran quarterbacks like Derek Carr and Eli Manning possibly being available via trade this offseason.

What This Means

It sounds as though the Jaguars won't be blaming Marrone for this season's shortcomings, and they'll give it another go in 2019. He is one of the game's better defensive-minded coaches, but the Jaguars need to start shaking it up on offense.

Bortles has had five years to put it together, and he hasn't been able to do it. The Jaguars should give Marrone a better playmaker behind center to build around, and see if that can guide them to championship contention.
