You can never have all of the stars in a fantasy game, and the NBA platforms aren't any different. You're always going to need a role player, someone you think is a sleeper, or sometimes even a wise, old veteran.

This season, there are plenty to choose from, with a good few having made moves to new teams.

Derrick Rose has been doing pretty well in Minnesota, Tony Parker is now a Hornet,  JaVale McGee, Rajon Rondo and Tyson Chandler have all teamed up in Los Angeles, while Carmelo Anthony moved to the Houston Rockets but might soon be off again as his future with the team is now uncertain.

Obviously, the 10-time All-Star isn't a very popular choice right. However, DraftKings NBA expert Julian Edlow had some advice for players looking to get savvy vets on their teams

"It can change night to night, which is kinda the point of DraftKings," he explained in an exclusive interview with TheSportster.

Given that DK allows users daily games, it's much easier to make the harder decisions involved in fantasy sports.

"Carmelo Anthony is probably the biggest name there, a one-time superstar, so he’s a guy whose salary could sometimes reflect that of a superstar," Edlow continued. This year people have accepted that he’s no longer a superstar so he’s been a lot cheaper in his time with the Rockets.

"But if you go back to last season with the Thunder, people kinda thought that was gonna be a three-headed monster with Paul George, Russell Westbrook, and Melo. But that wasn’t the case, it was really Westbrook and George doing the heavy lifting; Carmelo probably should have accepted a bench role there and didn’t.

"Now, he is an okay player to roster because DraftKings has adjusted his salary but when you have guys who are superstar names who aren’t playing in a big role, those are guys you wanna avoid. Anthony can be there some times, Rondo can be there sometimes with moving to the bench after his suspension, Lonzo Ball getting the minutes then."

Asked if there's any veteran player who should be avoided, Edlow said that it would all depend on price but there's no one player users should just stay away from as things can keep changing.

"There’s no one I can say that you should avoid because they might be playing poorly and DraftKings might adjust that player’s salary and now they’re under-priced and they’re somebody that you do wanna roster," he explained. "So it’s really more just paying attention to the price point of players and what their current role is."

What This Means

Of course, Melo is a player who should be avoided at all costs these days. He hasn't been allowed to play more than 10 games and is likely to get cut.

Unless he retires or heads to Europe or China - which is very unlikely - he should be playing on another team and would probably be worth revisiting.
