Being successful in fantasy soccer is all about avoiding the popular players and finding the dark horses that will set you apart.

The new Premier League season is in full swing and we'd imagine that a fair few of you are already banging your heads against your desk when it comes to your fantasy teams. If you've already fallen behind because you placed your faith in the likes of Mesut Ozil and Romelu Lukaku then you'll already be playing catch up rather than leading the pack.

If you play DraftKings, however, you won't currently have that feeling. That's because DK is all about one day fantasy. Relied on big names that didn't show up on the first day of the season? No problem. Just pick different players the next week or even the next day. In a world where most of us want instant gratification, one-day fantasy is king.

EXCLUSIVE: DRAFTKINGS EXPERT TALKS GOALKEEPER STRATEGY IN ONE DAY FANTASY SOCCER

When it comes to similarities between DK and season-long fantasy there is one big one, finding successful players that not many other users will think to pick up. Lucky for us, and now for you, TheSportster recently caught up with DK  soccer analyst Jordan Cooper who gave us some insight on what we should be looking for when selecting our one-day fantasy soccer lineups.

"It's all about finding salary inefficiencies, if someone costs less than what their effective production is," Cooper explained. The DK expert used Watford as an example, who has managed to win all three of its opening Premier League games. "Watford will score because of Burnley's tiredness and because I need to find a cheap player, I'm going to throw in Will Hughes and Etienne Capoue," Cooper told TheSportster while laying out the lineups he selected for gameweek two of this current Premier League season when Watford defeated Burnley.

While we went into the interview thinking that there would be dark horses to keep an eye on throughout the season, that simply isn't the case when it comes to playing DK. The Watford players above may have been dark horses when they faced Burnley, but now the side has some momentum and has won all of its games so far, everyone will want them in their one-day squads. The key is to be a step ahead of everyone else and to wean out the dark horses on any given week rather than opt for the obvious such as Harry Kane and basically anyone in the Manchester City squad.
