Drake Maverick's 24/7 Title reign came to an end as he was walking down the aisle, and his new wife isn't happy about it.
Ever since the 24/7 Title was introduced a few weeks ago, it has mainly been around the waist of R-Truth. That has made for some extremely entertaining television. Plus, every time Truth has lost the title, he has won it back relatively quickly. That's why we were fairly sure Drake Maverick's reign this week wasn't going to be a long one.
Then we were reminded by WWE of what was happening to Maverick this weekend. His marriage to fellow pro wrestler, Renee Michelle. Maverick began posting photos of himself with the title in the build to his own wedding, fueling speculation that he would be losing it on his wedding day. With EC3 and Braun Strowman in his wedding party and Matt Hardy being a guest at his wedding, it felt inevitable.
And, of course, it was. However, it was none of the names mentioned above. Truth crashed Maverick and Michelle's wedding, and he brought a referee with him. As the happy couple walked back up the aisle, with Maverick still wearing the title, he was confronted by the official and rolled up by Truth. With that, the veteran became a six-time champion in the space of a month.
I can’t believe he allowed this to affect our wedding day! He is obsessed. The hell with this 24/7 thing!— ✨Renee Michelle✨ (@1ReneeMichelle) June 21, 2019
I WANT A DIVORCE! https://t.co/bdoAaANX1G
We're guessing the social media segment came either right before or after the real ceremony. However, since Michelle is a wrestler herself, despite not being a WWE employee, she is getting in on the act too. After the dust had settled, and Maverick had presumably returned, she tweeted "I can’t believe he allowed this to affect our wedding day! He is obsessed." The new bride then added, "I WANT A DIVORCE!"
We're not sure who came up with this whole idea, but we love it. If we were to hazard a guess, we would assume it was Maverick who suggested it to Vince McMahon and the boss loved it. We're almost certain the footage will take pride of place on Raw this coming Monday, and deservedly so. It's also a great way for Maverick to demonstrate his worth to Mr.McMahon.
