Drake Maverick Has Finally Achieved His Dream Of Becoming WWE 24/7 Champion

Drake Maverick finally managed to get his hands on the 24/7 Title by disguising himself as Carmella.

Nothing has split the opinions of wrestling fans quite like the introduction of the 24/7 Title. From its design to the comedy it has brought to WWE's shows, fans seem to love it or hate it. We are very much in the love it camp. Once you realize the point of it is to be funny and that wrestlers involved in more serious storylines want nothing to do with it, the segments become easy to enjoy.

For the most part, the segments involving the 24/7 Title have revolved around R-Truth being champion and trying to escape the chasing pack. During that time Truth has been champion five times, losing the title to Jinder Mahal and Elias two times each. However, every time Truth has lost the title he has managed to win it back relatively quickly.

Not this time though it would seem. At least not at the time of typing this. Drake Maverick defeated Truth for the title on SmackDown Live and made his escape in a referee's car. As Truth was leaving the arena looking for Carmella, a shorter version of the former Women's Champion was waiting for him in the parking lot. Turns out it was Maverick in disguise, complete with fake breasts that fell out after he became champion.

No one has been trying harder to become champion than Maverick. The former Impact star has made wanted posters and been hanging around in airports in hope of catching a glimpse of Truth. Maverick has even been neglecting his duties as 205 Live General Manager. After escaping SmackDown Live as champion, he didn't return to oversee the cruiserweight show later that night.

As we said, at the time of typing this, Maverick is still champion. That's despite him sitting next to Aleister Black at the airport with the title around his waist. Either no referee was present or Black has no interest in being 24/7 Champion. We'd hazard to guess it's the latter. Stay tuned to WWE's social media for updates on the title. We personally hope Carmella is the one who brings Maverick's reign to an end.
