Drew McIntyre is coming off one of the greatest single-year runs for any superstar in WWE history.

After spending several years in the mid-card and tag team divisions, McIntyre finally received a massive main event push. It all started when he won last year's 30-man Royal Rumble match, which saw McIntyre eliminate two marquee superstars in Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns.

McIntyre went on to defeat Lesnar for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 36. Throughout 2020, McIntyre flourished as the new top babyface of the company, giving WWE a valuable main event star to build around.

His 2020 resume was nothing short of impressive: Two WWE Championships, a Royal Rumble victory and several pay-per-views headlined, including WrestleMania 36, Hell in a Cell and Survivor Series.

All in all, it was a historic 2020 for McIntyre, who rose to the top of the company in an ultra challenging year.

But out of the many unforgettable and career-changing moments for McIntyre in 2020, which one stands out the most? During an interview with The Telegraph India, McIntyre chose WrestleMania 36 as his defining moment of 2020.

"Just because of the gravity of the situation, it would have to be winning the WWE title. And not just because it was the first time I won that title or because I won it at the main event of WrestleMania (by beating Brock Lesnar).

But also because of what was going on in the world at the time — the whole world had shut down, Covid was at its absolute peak, people had no live content to watch except WWE and WrestleMania, and I had that feel-good story right at the end of WrestleMania week, which put a lot of smiles on people’s faces.

Hearing all the insanely positive feedback, millions of people being able to escape for a while through WrestleMania...if I had to pick one moment from 2020, it would have to be WrestleMania."

Drew McIntyre versus Brock Lesnar Wrestlemania 36

Last year, it was reported that Lesnar was keen on putting McIntyre over. There was even a moment on Raw last year where Lesnar seemingly broke character to help McIntyre after receiving a Claymore kick.

Lesnar hasn't appeared on television since WrestleMania 36. Per WWE tradition, he is technically entitled to a WWE Championship rematch against McIntyre. Only time will tell if we get McIntyre vs. Lesnar Part II.

McIntyre Has Been A Game-Changer For WWE

WWE has struggled to find a replacement for John Cena as the franchise face. Pushing Reigns for the better part of the previous four years didn't work out as much as Vince McMahon had hoped, and the former is instead shining as their top heel. But McIntyre has been up to the challenge, and he's made his case as the MVP of WWE. And as far as McIntyre and WWE are concerned, he's just getting started.
