Drew McIntyre, the current WWE Champion in his second reign, recently appeared on Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Sessions on WWE Network. The 35-year-old Florida wrestler teased that he’d like a matchup with Wade Barrett and Tyson Fury.

Earlier this year, McIntyre and Fury hinted that a match was in the works, but it was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They were slated to perform in the WWE Title in the main event of a UK PPV this year. Barrett, the former WWE Intercontinental Champion who is currently working as a commentator for NXT, has also expressed a desire to take on McIntyre.

About Barrett, McIntyre said, “hope he comes back for a match with me.” In terms of Fury, he is confident that “the reason we’re finally gonna get the biggest UK pay-per-view event since SummerSlam 1992 against me.” McIntyre will defend the WWE Title against AJ Styles in a TLC Match at tonight’s TLC PPV event.

On the November 16 episode of Raw, McIntyre reclaimed the WWE Championship when he defeated Randy Orton in a no disqualification match. He then took over for Orton against the Universal Champion Roman Reigns at Survivor Series in an interbrand champion vs. champion match. At the event on November 22, McIntyre was defeated by Reigns via technical submission following interference from Jey Uso.

Fury, a two-time British heavyweight world champion, signed a contract with WWE on the October 15 episode of Monday Night Raw. Fury defeated Braun Strowman by Countout at Crown Jewel, earning a reported $15 million for his participation. Meanwhile, Barrett, a former British professional wrestler and former bare-knuckle boxer, is currently signed to WWE as a colour commentator on the NXT brand.

On September 17, Barrett, who originally performed with WWE from 2006 to 2016, announced in an interview with Sports Illustrated this year that he had signed a one-year deal with WWE to become a permanent member of the NXT broadcast team.
