Miami Heat veteran Dwyane Wade has leapt to the defence of Carmelo Anthony amid the rumors of a possible waiver by the Houston Rockets.

The weekend was rife with reports regarding the forward's future on the team, with many believing that he has already played his last game for Houston. And Wade has posted a fiery tweet in response to the speculation over Anthony, who is a personal friend.

The Rockets beat the Indiana Pacers on Sunday night with Melo absent as the team claimed he was ill. But they have surprisingly struggled this season and are 5-7 after Sunday's win.

Wade, who is very much against Anthony being made the scapegoat for the team's poor start, lashed out at Houston via social media.

"Trying to make my guy @carmeloanthony the fall guy huh!?" he tweeted after catching the news. "Man y’all need to stop. That’s the easy way out instead of addressing what the real problem."

Houston, though, have since poured water on the reports, with general manager Daryl Morey labeling them unfair but admitting that they are "evaluating everything."

"One of the reasons I'm here, besides it's 10 games in, about, is I think there's just a lot of unfair, like, rumors and everything going around about him," Morey said ahead of Sunday's win.

"He's been great with us. As Coach (Mike D'Antoni) said yesterday, his approach has been great. He's accepted every role Coach has given him -- starting, off the bench, whatever it's been.

"We're struggling as a team, and it's my job, it's Coach's job to figure this thing out. But from guy one to guy 15 - and I'll put myself in there; a lot of this is on me right now - we're not playing well. We've just got to figure it out. We're evaluating everything.

"We've been extremely happy with his approach. Every reason we've brought him here, he's followed. Again, that's why he's here. It's unfair that there's all this speculation on just one player. I understand it, because he's obviously a Hall of Famer, but it's unfair."

Sources have reported that the player is very unhappy with his current role in the side but there are suggestions it could be reduced even more if the Rockets decide to keep him.

"I know, like Daryl said, they're exploring all options," Mike D'Antoni stated on Sunday. "With everybody coming back, it squeezes some things, and then we'll see how it goes."
