The defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles made another big offseason move, signing veteran wide receiver Mike Wallace to a one-year contract.

Peter Schrager of Fox Sports first broke the news:

Wallace joins an offensive arsenal that includes star wideout Alshon Jeffery, slot receiver speedster Nelson Agholor, Super Bowl 52 hero Zach Ertz and running back Jay Ajayi. Wallace will also replace the deep threat ability and speed left by Torrey Smith - who was traded to the Carolina Panthers for Daryl Worley.

The 31-year-old Wallace revived his career in two seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, catching 124 passes for 1,765 yards and eight touchdowns. He should work nicely in a heavy offensive system implemented by head coach Doug Pederson, who loves to have quarterbacks Carson Wentz and Nick Foles throw the ball deep.

Signing Wallace is just one of the many bold moves made by the Eagles so far this offseason. Besides trading Smith, they also released veteran tight end Brent Celek and let running back LeGarrette Blount go in free agency - where he'd go on to sign a one-year deal with the Detroit Lions.

Philadelphia also traded for Seattle Seahawks star pass-rusher Michael Bennett, but also released defensive lineman Vinny Curry while cornerback Patrick Robinson signed with the New Orleans Saints.

The Eagles have kept the bulk of their core together, however. With the quarterback duo of Wentz-Foles and other talents in Ajayi, Jeffery, Agholor and defensive stars Malcolm Jenkins, Fletcher Cox and Brandon Graham, the Eagles have kept their championship window open for 2018 and beyond.

Wallace has yet to win a championship ring, only reaching Super Bowl 45 with the Pittsburgh Steelers - where they lost 31-25 to the Green Bay Packers. He'll be 32 by the time 2018 rolls around, so it's possible this is Wallace's final chance at winning a Super Bowl.

And who better to join than the defending champion Eagles?
