WWE superstar Edge hasn’t appeared on company programming since his loss in the main event on Night Two of WrestleMania 37 last month. The veteran performer tasted defeat vs. Roman Reigns in a match for the Universal Championship also involving Daniel Bryan.

Reigns got a pin on both Edge and Bryan, stacking them on top of the other to claim victory and keep his title. Bryan has since been written off TV given the expiry of his WWE contract but the Rated-R Superstar simply hasn’t been seen.

According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp (H/T Sportskeeda.com), Edge isn’t dealing with an injury, he’s taking planned time off. “Planned time off from what I understand,” Sapp said when questioned on the veteran’s status during Fightful Select’s Backstage Report podcast.

There was nothing on when the superstar might return but it’s likely he could make a return at SummerSlam in August. While he signed a mouthwatering contract with WWE and is set to make $3 million in 2021, Edge is only contracted to wrestle five matches a year and make 25 television appearances. Given his injury history, that’s pretty understandable.

He already fulfilled high-profile performances in the Royal Rumble, which he won, and at WrestleMania.

What’s Next For Edge At WWE?

Should he get a SummerSlam match, we will be seeing a lot of Edge on WWE TV leading up to the big event. He has previously revealed an interest in feuding with wrestlers such as AJ Styles, Seth Rollins, Matt Riddle, Damian Priest, Ricochet, Sami Zayn, and Cesaro.

That he isn’t nursing any sort of injury is indeed good news and he should be back to pursue an on-screen angle in due time.
