On this week's Monday Night RAW Tucker was forced to find a tag-team partner to face The Miz and John Morrison and the tag-team partner he found was the iconic pink Lucha mask-wearing El Gran Gordo, who bore a striking resemblance to Otis.

Otis is maintaining his innocence by suggesting that he isn't El Gran Gordo, but it seems clear to just about everyone else with eyes that El Gran Gordo is actually the former Heavy Machinery tag-team member wearing a mask to circumvent the brand-split after the pair were drafted to different WWE brands.

Wearing a Lucha mask to get around WWE rules and regulations isn't anything new, as we've seen the likes of Hulk Hogan and John Cena don a Mexican luchador mask as a disguise.

But, many who have watched WWE for some time will definitely recognise the pink mask and cape that Otis wore, as they've become something of a legendary item for the company, with many other Superstars making appearances in the mask.

So, let's take a look back at the history of the pink Lucha mask, where it came from and who has gone on to count themselves as among the lucky few to have worn it in the ring and felt it's legendary power!

Becky Lynch

The first person to wear the pink Lucha mask was Becky Lynch who posed as the unknown and new female luchador, La Luchadora. La Luchadora debuted on the December 20th, 2016 episode of SmackDown Live against the, then, SmackDown Women's Champion Alexa Bliss.

La Luchadora unexpectedly picked up a massive upset win against the champion, until of course, La Luchadore unmasked to reveal herself as none other than Becky Lynch, kicking off a title feud between the two women.

However, this would only be the first of many appearances of the La Luchadora character, as the enigmatic masked Superstar became a focal point of the feud between Lynch and Bliss, but crucially Lynch wouldn't be the only person to play the character, and therefore she wouldn't be the only person to wear the now iconic mask!

Alexa Bliss and Deonna Purrazzo

Becky Lynch may have introduced La Luchadora as a way to surprise Bliss, but Bliss was sure to get the last laugh when she brought back an unknown person under the La Luchadora mask to attack Becky Lynch during a SmackDown Women's Title match and cost her the title opportunity.

That unknown wrestler was none other than Deonna Purrazzo, although she wasn't officially unveiled on television so, in terms of cannon, doesn't offically count as making a debut or actually being on television during this time, acting only as a filler until the 'official' person was unveiled, which we'll get to later.

Not content with letting Purrazzo wear the outfit alone though, Bliss would also dress up as La Luchadora on the following week's episode of SmackDown Live in a losing effort to Becky Lynch. However, when Lynch unmasked Bliss, the real La Luchadora, or at the least the other one, appeared and the pair beat her down.

Then, on the January 17th 2017 episode of SmackDown Live, Lynch and Bliss would meet once again for the title and this time it would be inside a steel cage. But the match would be most memorable for revealing our next person to wear the pink Lucha mask.

Mickie James

That's right, Mickie James made her dramatic return to WWE television after a lengthy absence by dressing up in a ridiculous body suit and wearing a pink Lucha mask and cape to help Alexa Bliss retain her SmackDown Women's Title.

The pair would go on to give a smug backstage interview with James still donning the La Luchadora outfit, but sadly not the mask.

Sadly this moment would mark the end of the La Luchadora character, but incredibly it wouldn't mark the end of the pink Lucha mask that we all know and love as it would go on to be work by an incredibly unlikely person.

The Brian Kendrick

It would be some time until the pink Lucha mask was seen again, in fact a number of years. However, during a match between Danny Burch and Ariya Daivari on the January 3rd, 2020 episode of 205 Live would be interrupted by a masked man wearing the mask (but not the cape)

The masked man would cost Danny Burch the match before attacking him and revealing himself as none other than the returning Brian Kendrick.

And that brings us to El Gran Gordo, the latest in a long and illustrious line of WWE Superstars to have ever worn the legendary pink Lucha mask. Who will be the next lucky person to don the mask? Only time will tell.
