On this week's Raw 25th Anniversary show, John Cena came out and confronted Elias during one of his signature singing performances. Elias then smashed his guitar over Cena, and proceeded to brutally attacked the 16-time World Champion.

Elias' attack on Cena was unforeseen and rather surprising, given how top superstars (especially the babyfaces),usually come out on top during special shows like this one. But if the latest rumours have some truth behind them, then Elias' attack is just the beginning of a big push.

According to Cageside Seats, the latest speculation is that Elias and Cena will continue their feud following this Sunday's Royal Rumble. Elias is being used as a replacement for Samoa Joe, who suffered a foot injury and will be forced to miss the Rumble.

After being used as a mid-card performer for humorous singing/guitar segments, it seems like Elias could finally receive a big push. Vince McMahon notably loves to move forward with "big men," as seen with Braun Strowman and Jinder Mahal over the past year.

Elias debuted on the Apr. 10 edition of Monday Night Raw last year, but hasn't been used seriously as a wrestler. But he has put on a handful of quality matches, particularly against Jason Jordan, Matt Hardy (in a Survivor Series kickoff match), and John Cena on the Christmas episode of Raw.

And with a number of top WWE superstars getting injured over the past year, the creative team has had to start pushing more mid-card wrestlers. Jason Jordan became one-half of the Raw Tag Team Champions and is a member of The Shield while Dean Ambrose nurses a long-term elbow injury.

Now, it appears as though Elias will get his push as a dominant big man - at least until Joe returns from injury. So don't think that guitar smash on Cena was a one-off. It just may be the start of a big push.
