Everton started its pre-season preparation in the best possible way this weekend, defeating ATV Irdning a staggering 22-0.
The World Cup has officially come to a close and just 24 hours later, most fans will be looking forward to the new season which begins in a little under a month. For most European clubs, preparations for the new season began before the World Cup finished on Sunday afternoon. Even the best teams have many players who haven't been at the tournament in Russia and they need to start getting match fit once again.

A couple of Premier League teams also have new managers that need to get settled in. Most notably there is Unai Emery who has taken over from Arsene Wenger, the club's first managerial change in 22 years. Everton also has a new manager to get acclimatized to his new club before the new season begins, Marco Silva. The Portuguese manager got the best possible welcome from his players this weekend.
While it obviously wasn't a competitive match, Silva took charge of Everton for the first time at the weekend in a friendly match versus Austrian side, ATV Irdning. The Toffees put a staggering 22 goals past Irdning without reply, beating them 22-0. You can check out all of the goals in the video below. It's a quicker video than you might expect.
As you can see, by goal 20 the Irdning keeper is pretty fed up and simply steps aside to let Nikola Vlasic tap home his second of the game. Eight different Everton players managed to get on the scoresheet. Kevin Mirallas was the top scorer with five goals while Cenk Tosun and Oumar Niasse also had enjoyable afternoons, bagging four each.
Irdning may have been underdogs going into this one, but it's embarrassing for any team to concede more than 20 goals without reply. The Austrian side plays its soccer in the Oberliga Nord, so isn't much more than a local team in Austria. On Wednesday, Everton plays its next friendly against League One, Bury. Suffice to say even though Bury is two leagues below Everton, they will not be conceding as many as 22 against them.
