On Monday, WWE announced that they'd be holding a women's only battle royal at WrestleMania 34. That news wasn't completely shocking as there were rumors WWE would be introducing this match, perhaps even replacing the men's battle royal with it. What was a bit more surprising was that as WWE made the announcement, the name of the match became clear. In honor of the late WWE Legend Fabulous Moolah, the battle royal would be named after her.

At first glance, the idea of naming the match after a former legend makes sense. The WWE did the same with Andre the Giant. Where things get a bit controversial is the fact WWE named this match in honor of someone who had a reputation for being one of the most unethical and dirty people in wrestling history.

A backlash from fans after the announcement of the match has been swift and loud. Many in the WWE Universe are calling for a name change or cancelation of the match due to Moohal's reputation as a racist, sexually exploitive and dangerous competitor who had a history of hurting others and holding them back as she dominated the women's division for years in wrestling.

Tweets from fans were everywhere after the announcement. "Did you know? The Fabulous Moolah was a human trafficker for female wrestlers. She pimped semi-trained women to promoters and their wrestlers, those who didn't comply were raped. , remove her name from the WrestleMania Women's Battle Royal asap," Twitter user  said. Another user, @pawnnolonger said, "I love WWE but they really need to stop deifying the Fabulous Moolah, she is one of the worst human beings to ever walk the earth."

Even a petition was started to get rid of the match and it already has hundreds of signatures and there were hundreds of other tweets similar to the two listed above.

Will WWE respond? Did they even consider the fact that Moolah had such a controversial past when they considered naming the match after her? The WWE has been known to make interesting choices when it comes to who they choose to glorify and who they choose to ignore. From keeping Chyna out of the WWE Hall of Fame to including Jeff Jarrett in it, there seems to be no rhyme or reason to their decision-making.

The choice to name this battle royal after the Fabulous Moolah is a head-scratcher for sure.
