Finn Balor has confirmed that when he faces Brock Lesnar at Royal Rumble, he will be Balor the man and not Balor the demon.

Finn Balor's two and a half year stay on the main roster has been somewhat of a mixed bag. His debut month was the best we have seen in WWE for years. On night one the Irishman defeated Roman Reigns. That victory earned him a Universal Title shot. At SummerSlam the following month, he became the first person to ever hold that championship.

A shoulder injury Balor suffered while winning that title derailed his rapid ascension. Since he returned from that injury, he hasn't been given the spotlight he deserves. Until now. Last week on Raw, Balor earned the opportunity to take on Brock Lesnar this Sunday at Royal Rumble. Not only that, but he did so by winning two matches in one night and pinning John Cena in the main event.

Fans naturally have a lot of questions regarding what we can expect heading into this unique match. One of those questions is which Balor are we going to get? Balor the man or Balor the demon? Well, the first-ever Universal Champion has answered that question. In an interview with ESPN, Balor revealed that he will not be busting out his demon bodypaint before he tackles The Beast.

"I can assure you that the man who faces Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble will be Finn Balor, the man," Balor told ESPN. He also said that he felt as if he leaned on his demon persona a little too much in the past. In fairness, we haven't seen it many times so far in WWE, especially on the main roster.

Aside from not getting to see the demon this Sunday, the worst thing about this news is that it likely means Balor is going to lose. For those keeping score, while wearing his demon paint, Balor is yet to lose on the main roster. WWE clearly wants to keep that run going, hence the lack of paint planned for Royal Rumble. However, if we get the kind of loss Daniel Bryan suffered to Lesnar at Survivor Series, we'll be happy.
