Finn Balor dropped the Intercontinental Championship on this week's episode of Monday Night Raw to Bobby Lashley, but for disappointed fans, there may be quite the silver lining going on.

A source told WrestleVotes that Balor may have lost the title to Lashley because WWE may have bigger plans in store for the Demon King at WrestleMania 35 -- which is less than a month away now.

This is certainly quite an interesting rumor that's hard to look away from right now. It looked as though WWE was set to push Balor again, only for him to lose his Intercontinental Championship to Lashley.

But perhaps the WWE is ready to come up with something even bigger and better for Balor, now that he may be done his brief feud with Lashley. It's anybody's guess what that will be, considering that Balor is far from the only superstar who doesn't have a confirmed WrestleMania opponent yet.

So far, six matches have been confirmed for WrestleMania 35. Balor, Lashley, Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, Braun Strowman, Baron Corbin and Drew McIntyre are among the bigger superstars on Raw who don't have an opponent yet. It's also possible Balor faces a superstar from NXT or SmackDown Live, so the possibilities for an opponent are endless here for the former Universal Champion.

Balor had to relinquish his Universal Championship a day after defeating Rollins at SummerSlam 2016 after suffering a shoulder injury. Since his return, Balor has been stuck in the mid-card level despite great popularity from the fans. He did face Brock Lesnar for the Universal title at the Royal Rumble, but Balor was unsuccessful in winning the championship.

What This Means

Perhaps WWE has finally decided that Balor is ready for another main event push. He's among the most admired and respected babyfaces in the roster, and there's no doubting that he's deserving of a big moment at WrestleMania. We'll find out in the coming weeks just what WWE has planned for him for the big show in New Orleans.
