At last year's Royal Rumble pay-per-view, John Cena defeated AJ Styles to become a 16-time World Champion. With the victory, Cena matched Ric 'The Nature Boy' Flair for most World title reigns.

But over a year later, the WWE Universe continues to await the historic moment where Cena breaks the historic feat. It seems inevitable, and it could happen as soon as the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view, where Cena has the opportunity to unseat Styles as champion once again.

It's only a matter of time until Flair's record is broken by Cena. So how does The Nature Boy feel about it? Speaking with Revolt, the 16-time World Champion and Hall of Famer explained why Cena's deserving of finally breaking his iconic record:

"I think it's great. If anybody deserves that honor, it's John. He's a trooper. 16 years, no time off, very unselfish, the king of Make-A-Wish, [he's] just a great guy. He's the flagship. He has done everything that it takes. John completely devoted and committed to being the flagship for the company and he is. So if he wins 17, I'll be happy for him. I'll be the person to shake his hand."

Flair won't bear any grudges against Cena, but will rather be the complete class act should the situation take place. It could be similar to that of when Hank Aaron congratulated Barry Bonds on breaking his home run record in 2007. No hard feelings, just one legend admiring the other.

As flair said, Cena is the man who deserves to break his championship record. He's been the face of WWE since 2005, has worked extensively outside the ring to work with fans and charities, and is more humble, loyal and respectful than anybody else in the business.

Cena is 41 years of age, no longer the face of wrestling and only a part-time performer. Nobody knows for sure if he'll stick around wrestling much longer. But if that's the case, there's one last order of business: Break Flair's record and become the elusive 17-time World Champion.
