Giorgio Chiellini has admitted he thought bringing Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus was an "impossible" task.

The new European soccer season is rapidly approaching which means the transfer window continues to get smaller and smaller. Clubs and their managers have a limited amount of time to bring in new players and get rid of the ones they don't want heading into the new season. Even though the window has not yet slammed shut this summer has already been one to remember when it comes to soccer switches.

The main reason for that is because Cristiano Ronaldo said goodbye to Real Madrid after nine seasons with the current Champions League holders. Juventus coughed up a staggering $130 million in order to bring the Portuguese superstar to Turin, even more than Real initially paid to sign Ronaldo from Manchester United when he was just 24 years of age.

Juventus stalwart, Giorgio Chiellini recently spoke to ESPN and admitted that he had labeled a potential Ronaldo transfer as "impossible." Now that the impossible has happened though, Chiellini believes that Ronaldo will take the club to the next level. "With our manager, with our director ... it's a reality. Juventus is growing ... year after year, and we need a champion like Cristiano," the Italian told ESPN.

Chiellini knows a thing or two about Juventus and what the club needs. The decorated defender will kick off his fourteenth consecutive season with the Serie A Champions this summer, one of which he spent with the club in Italy's second division following its relegation due to being found guilty of match-fixing. If Chiellini makes more than 27 appearances in this coming season then he will surpass the 500 match mark for Juventus. Only four players have achieved that feat in the club's entire history including the recently transferred Gianluigi Buffon.

When it comes to winning Serie A, Juventus has zero issues. The side has won the last seven league titles in Italy. It's the Champions League that it struggles with and that is the main reason Ronaldo has been brought into the fold. Juventus has made it to two of the last four finals, losing both of them. Ronaldo, on the other hand, has won three Champions League titles in three seasons while with Real Madrid.
