2018 WWE Hall of Fame inductee, Goldberg, had quite a career that spanned over a decade in the squared circle as he built a reputation on destructing his opponents within short minutes.

Goldberg wasn't one to put on lengthy and epic 10-20 minute matches, but the man certainly knew how to entertain a crowd. And even if a large portion of his matches ended in less than three minutes, Goldberg still did enough to earn a place in wrestling immortality.

In stints for both the WCW and WWE promotions, Goldberg got to face some of the biggest wrestling names ever. This includes Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, Triple H, Brock Lesnar (whom he beat twice), Kane, Chris Jericho and many others.

But there's one major wrestling icon that Goldberg never got to go toe-to-toe with in the ring. This weekend, he was at the Bristol Motor Speedway to watch the NASCAR Cup race. Goldberg explained why 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin was an influence on him, and that the Texas Rattlesnake was the opponent he would have loved to face in the ring (via The Augusta Free Press).

“He was such a big influence through my rise through the ranks.I didn’t copy anyone," Goldberg said. "But I’d like to have shared the ring with him. He’s the one I wanted to have an angle with.”

Goldberg and Austin did some segments together in the WWF, but the closest we actually got in seeing these two "fight" was at WrestleMania XX. That's when Goldberg and Lesnar squared off - with Austin as the special guest referee.

The match was a disaster for the WWE, as both Goldberg and Lesnar were on their ways out of the promotion. Fans taunted and booed the superstars throughout, and the only saving grace was when Austin hit both Goldberg and Lesnar with a Stone Cold Stuner after the match.

There are many dream matches that the WWE Universe never got to see, and there's no denying an Austin-Goldberg bout would have been epic. But unfortunately, the time for that match to happen passed when the Texas Rattlesnake retired in 2003.
