Goldberg's last match took place at WrestleMania 36, where he dropped the Universal Championship to Braun Strowman.

The WWE Hall of Famer was initially scheduled to face and drop the title to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania, but the latter removed himself from the event due to safety and health concerns amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Goldberg made an unforgettable return at the Super ShowDown event, where he defeated "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt to win his second Universal Championship. Goldberg was the first person to beat The Fiend cleanly, and nobody has accomplished the feat ever since.

Having defeated Wyatt, and having dropped the title on the Grandest Stage of Them All to Strowman, is Goldberg ready to call it quits and thus leave on a high note?

It doesn't seem to be on his mind.

During an interview with American Monster Productions (h/t 411Mania.com), Goldberg seemed to indicate that he's not done wrestling just yet, and that there's still lots more to give in the ring.

"You want to leave at the top, right? You want to leave the biggest, baddest son of a (expletive), period. But guess what? My thought process changed when I became a guy that’s 50 years old that can still do this (expletive).

I used to talk about Ric Flair being over 40 and how goofy he was wrestling. Now I’m 53 right now and I just got done, that’s ridiculous. The fact is, the way I look at it now, there is me then and there is me now, and show me another 53 year old dude who can do it.

Give me a month, the guys only give me three weeks every time anyway, give me an extra week, give me a month, I’ll show you what I can look like. Not many people can do that at 53 years old with a lot of things contributing to it, mainly injuries, especially what I’ve been through."

After Goldberg defeated Wyatt, several reports indicated that WWE  wound up making massive changes to the plans. Apparently, Goldberg pushed for a victory against Wyatt because he wanted a "superhero" image of defeating a monster character.

Not only that, but it was also suggested that Goldberg didn't want to extend his deal past WrestleMania, apparently leaving WWE no choice but to change up the plans that would have seen Wyatt face Reigns at WrestleMania.

At any rate, Goldberg doesn't seem ready to call it a career just yet. And who knows? Maybe the match with Reigns will happen down the road.

A Matter Of If, Not When

Goldberg sounds keen on wrestling again, and as everyone knows, Vince McMahon likes to bring back big-named legends and part-timers for major shows. So it's really a matter of when Goldberg returns, not if. It could be a while - perhaps not until fans are allowed in attendance again - but it's highly unlikely that we've already witnessed Goldberg's final match.
