WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg knows the gut-wrenching feeling of having an impressive streak come to an end, as he went on an impressive 173-0 run in WCW before Kevin Nash put an end to it.

Very few wrestlers have ever come close to putting up a streak as impressive as that, but current WWE women's talent Asuka did put together something special. Heading into WrestleMania 34 against SmackDown Women's Champion Charlotte Flair, Asuka carried a 914-day unbeaten streak.

However, the Empress of Tomorrow wasn't able to conquer the Queen, and Asuka's impressive streak come to an abrupt end at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans.

In an interview with the New York Post, Goldberg explained why he felt bad for Asuka when her streak ended:

"It's so hard. I felt bad for her. It's a really cool accomplishment. It's unbelievable, but there comes a time when you kind of question its tenure and when is it the right time to break it," Goldberg said. "Who is the right person to break it? I think it was done properly. I do. I think the pressure has been taken off of her. There was a lot of pressure on me at the end of the streak."

Obviously, Asuka's streak did have to end eventually - and having it conclude on the Grandest Stage of Them all against the face of women's professional wrestling may have been the ideal way to end it.

However, the end of Goldberg's streak remains controversial to this day - and it's widely cited as one of the moments that led to WCW's downfall. Facing Kevin Nash for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship at the 1998 Starrcade pay-per-view, Goldberg lost in one of the most baffling ways ever.

Hall of Famer Scott Hall (Nash's sidekick in the New World Order alliance), was disguised as a security guard and attacked Goldberg with a stun gun. That allowed Nash to end take advantage, pin Goldberg and end the streak.

After that, Goldberg's status as the face of WCW came to an end, and he would never regain that momentum again. WCW continued to form more and more controversial storylines and finishes that would lead to their demise in 2001.

In Asuka's case, at least she lost cleanly to an elite opponent at WrestleMania, rather than have someone interfere and cost her dearly.
