It's rare to see a sports player cry — especially when it's tears of joy.

Goran Dragic was seen in a video crying after receiving the jersey of Drazen Petrovic. He got it while being congratulated for all the success he brought to the European Championship.

He received the now deceased Petrovic's jersey for a few reasons. One of which was that he, according to the mother of Petrovic, led the team the same way her son did. He also wore the same number at the championship as Petrovic. On top of all that, Petrovic is someone who's had a lasting legacy on players, clearly, Goran Dragic.

He was asked what memories he's got of the legendary player and begins by saying that this is the best gift he has ever got. He also said that Petrovic was his idol and that he did good things for basketball in Yugoslavia.

Goran mentioned how many players on the winning team were tired after a hard-fought victory. So, this gesture could have acted as the thing that pushed him off the edge — as in making him cry because he knew how hard it was and how much it would have meant to be able to talk to the person who used to wear that jersey after this win. In short, it's a reminder of all the good times he might have had with Petrovic wrapped into a jersey and then presented to him after a meaningful win.

What This Means

It means the man is a human being. He's allowed to get emotional from time to time, especially considering the circumstances. This is not something that will make him look weak nor will it be something that people try to tease him about. Many people assume that sports players are super tough mentality, but in reality, everyone has something that will make them cry.
