Hangman Page was the 21st man in AEW Double Or Nothing's Casino Battle Royale and earned himself a future title shot by winning the match.

AEW's historic first event Double Or Nothing is underway as we type this. More specifically, the Buy-In preshow for the event. The first match of the night, and hence the first match in AEW history, was the 21-man Casino Battle Royale. The rules were a little convoluted, but the match was extremely entertaining once things got started.

Five men started the match. They were joined by another five wrestlers three minutes later, then another five and so on. Four groups of five plus one joker. The match included the likes of Luchasaurus, MJF, Billy Gunn, and Tommy Dreamer. MJF was part of the match from the very beginning and may well have been the bout's MVP, lasting until the very end.

MJF eliminated double amputee Dustin Thomas, lumping even more heel heat on his head. That came after Thomas had eliminated Shawn Spears, aka former WWE Superstar Tye Dillinger. Business really started to pick up when the mystery 21st man entered the fray, and that man was Hangman Page. Page was supposed to be going one on one with Pac at Double Or Nothing, but plans changed.

After eliminating Luchasaurus, who also had an extremely impressive showing, Page thought he'd won. However, MJF was lurking and, in turn, threw Page over the top rope. Unlucky for the man who will undoubtedly be one of AEW's top heels, Page's feet didn't hit the floor. The former Bullet Club member pulled himself back in the ring and finished the job properly, sending MJF to the floor.

Not only does that mean Page will forever be the first person to ever win an AEW match, but he has also earned himself a future AEW World Title match. The championship will be unveiled later in the evening, and his opponent will be the winner of Kenny Omega versus Chris Jericho. A strong start for AEW, and a talented wrestler to hitch your wagon to if Page is going to be the promotion's first ever World Champion.
