WWE has announced that Booker T and Stevie Ray, iconic WCW tag team Harlem Heat, will be inducted into the Hall Of Fame as part of the 2019 class.
It has taken a little longer than usual for the announcements to come, but with less than a month to go until the big night, WWE's 2019 Hall Of Fame class is starting to take shape. D-Generation X were the first inductees announced. The faction was soon followed by the Honky Tonk Man. Then last week, Torrie Wilson was added to proceedings.
The class is not full yet, though. We will still have a couple more announcements to come, and perhaps some of the rumored names will make the cut. Taz's name has been thrown around, as has his late ECW nemesis Bam Bam Bigelow. The Hart Foundation have also been rumored to be inducted this year, as well as Brutus 'The Barber' Beefcake.
While some of those names might well be a part of the final class, WWE has thrown us a curveball in terms of the latest announcement. On Monday, it was revealed that Harlem Heat will be inducted into the HOF. By no means do we mean the tag team doesn't deserve it, by curveball we mean Booker T and Stevie Ray haven't been among the names rumored to be inducted this year.
In terms of being deserving, very few will be arguing with the sibling tag team's imminent induction. While Booker and Stevie never teamed up in WWE, as Harlem Heat they were one of the best tag teams to ever grace WCW. During their eight years with the promotion, they held its Tag Team Titles together ten times, more than any other team in the company's history.
Up until now, Ric Flair held the honor of being the only two time WWE Hall Of Famer. As it stands, he will soon be joined by two others, Booker and Shawn Michaels. If The Hart Foundation is inducted this year, Bret Hart and Jimmy Hart will join that exclusive club too. Congratulations to Harlem Heat, a deserving tag team that will soon be immortalized in the WWE Hall Of Fame.
