While Raw is busy trying to figure out how to get better while refusing to shift from its failing formula, SmackDown Live has no such issue. Team Blue realizes that the key is to not stick to one particular formula. That's why Tuesday night's show was book-ended by two must-see matches. Plus, the stuff in between was pretty good too. Well, for the most part. Here are some of the biggest things we took away from this week's SmackDown Live.

SmackDown Live's Writers Know What We Want

via wwe.com

Whether you found out Mustafa Ali would be taking on Daniel Bryan before SmackDown Live or as the show started, if you're anything like us you will have let out a little squeal when you did. We're not sure what prompted WWE to have one of 205 Live's most talented Superstars take on the WWE Champion, but we're glad it happened. We wouldn't be surprised if Bryan himself requested this match. It was an entertaining match, as most would have expected, but being on SmackDown Live it didn't get the amount of time it deserved. It happened though, and hopefully not for the one and only time.

Remember When We All Wanted Cesaro To Be WWE Champion?

via cagesdeseats.com

There was a time not so long ago when a large chunk of the WWE Universe was begging WWE to make Cesaro a World Champion. He is clearly talented enough, but Vince McMahon admitted that he doesn't think he can connect with fans because he's Swiss. Whether we notice it or not, Mr. McMahon has a knack of making us forget that we favor Superstars he doesn't. Seeing Cesaro dressed as Vanilla Ice and get embarrassed during a Thanksgiving Feast Fight has a way of erasing the dream of him being WWE Champion from our minds.

Chairs Matches Are Stupid

via wwe.com

Ladder matches make sense. The title is suspended high above the ring, you're going to need a ladder to get to it. Table matches are also a-ok. To win the match, a wrestler has to put their opponent through a table. That makes sense. Chairs matches do not. Just because there is a C in that TLC acronym doesn't mean it has to have its own match. Does that mean if Randy Orton or Rey Mysterio use a weapon that isn't a chair during their match on Sunday, they'll be disqualified? Look on the bright side, at least we aren't seeing the return of the stairs match.

SmackDown Live Pays Attention To Detail, Unlike Raw

via wwe.com

One of the most frustrating things about the booking of Raw recently has been the lack of attention to detail. Even this week during Seth Rollins' rant, he pointed out things that didn't make sense, such as who is booking those Lucha House Party matches. SmackDown Live does not trip up in that arena as often. That was demonstrated by what The Miz did this week. The A-Lister booked himself and Shane McMahon in a tag match, even summoning a referee to the ring. It was revealed later that Miz had told the ref Paige ordered the match, and also told the enhancement talent they beat that the GM would pay them. No loopholes on SmackDown Live.

NOW We Believe Becky Lynch Has Been Cleared To Compete

via wwe.com

There have been rumors circulating that Becky Lynch would not be cleared in time to compete at TLC. The Man fired back at those rumors over the weekend, claiming nothing will stop her from defending her title this Sunday. No matter what Lynch might think, if WWE doctors tell her she can't compete then she won't compete. Well, we can now put our minds at ease. Lynch was watching Charlotte Flair versus Asuka at ringside on SmackDown Live. When the action spilled out of the ring and The Queen got disqualified, The Man got involved. It's the first time she has been involved in anything physically since having her face broken by Nia Jax. Bring on TLC and hopefully, the triple threat match involving these three women headlines the PPV.
