A recent report suggests top WWE Superstar Roman Reigns has inked a new multi-year contract as of July.
According to a report from Pro Wrestling Sheet, the deal was finalized last month and while details of the contract have not been released, speculation is that it might be either a four or five-year extension.
Reigns' contract comes on the heels of some other big names staying with WWE. Braun Stromwman recently re-upped with the company and AJ Styles and his O.C. counterparts signed extensions recently as well. This is great news for WWE who has been caught in a windstorm of rumors that many WWE Superstars are looking to leave the company and join promotions like AEW. Some, like Dean Ambrose (Jon Moxley), Tye Dillinger (Shawn Spears) and Goldust (Dustin Rhodes) have already done so.
Reigns might be WWE's arguably biggest star. A former multiple time champion, he was just part of one of Hollywood's top-grossing films, Hobbs & Shaw, acting alongside his cousin Dwayne Johnson. During interviews promoting that film, including one with us here at the Sportster revealed Reigns was already thinking about his future after WWE. He wanted to try more films but said first, he had some unfinished business in wrestling and wanted a lay a few more bricks on the foundation his family had built in the industry.
Clearly, he's decided he's not quite done and will be sticking around for a few more years.
What This Means
Wrestlers who are the current cornerstone of WWE seem to be sticking by the company. The Undertaker signed a lifetime deal, Styles, Reigns, Strowman and others are sticking put and female performers like Becky Lynch and the returning Sasha Banks don't seem to be going anywhere.
It might not seem like a huge deal but Reigns choosing to stay with WWE is excellent news for the company and one less megastar Vince has to worry about departing when his current deal runs out.
