The story has been out there for a while that Hulk Hogan almost wasn't the guy to join the nWo. He was the third man everyone wanted, but The Hulkster wasn't sure until the final hours before his heel turn that joining was the right business decision. Hogan confirmed as much, plus a few other noteworthy items during his Hall of Fame speech Tuesday evening.

The NWO were inducted into the 2020 Hall of Fame class and the original members took their turns speaking. Sean Waltman thanked Eric Bischoff and his family, along with the fans. Scott Hall kept his words short and sweet, offering up a couple catch phrases. Kevin Nash gave props to WWE and said the group wouldn't have worked had he and Hall's contract come up for renewal six days apart.

But, it was what Hulk Hogan said that might have been the most interesting. Essentially, he claimed he wasn't going to join until he saw the momentum the group was gaining, how much money was there to be made and that Sting was getting the call if Hogan had said no.

Hogan admitted that it was his desire to jump on the bandwagon of the New World Order's success that got him to call Eric Bischoff back about thinking he'd consider it. Then, when Bischoff said he was about to call Sting, Hogan grabbed the chance to be the  "third man".

It took Bischoff saying the NWO would be a money train and someone else almost getting the spot for Hogan not to pass up the chance to earn huge coin. Essentially, he didn't want someone else taking what he thought he could get his hands on.

Not Really New, But Still An Interesting Admission

It's not likely Hogan was trying to let the WWE Universe know he was greedy when he made his decision. And, honestly, who can blame him? It's business and joining the group was a smart business decision.

It was just intriguing to see the other members of the group thank so many people who helped them get to the Hall of Fame and Hogan stuck to talking about his smart decision making skills.

Oh, and.. he teased that the NWO might make an appearance during WrestleMania 37.
