It's been seven and a half years since Hulk Hogan wrestled his last match, and the WWE icon confirmed that he won't be competing in the squared circle again.

Hogan appeared on The Steve Austin Show (h/t Ringside News), and listed all the injuries and surgeries he's endured throughout the years. The Hulkster revealed that his right and left knees have been scoped four times each, and they were both eventually replaced. On top of that, Hogan has had to undergo nine surgeries on his back.

The WWE Hall of Famer then explained that he hoped to "have a fusion" on his back that would have let him wrestle again, similar to what Shawn Michaels went through. The latter had to retire for a few years due to a nagging back injury, but he was able to come back and go on for almost another decade.

At the end of it all, complications in the back procedures meant that Hogan was simply unable to wrestle again, but it's not keeping him down in any way, shape or form.

"All that being said I’m pretty darn cool, I can’t wrestle again, but I’m pretty cool other than this darn arthritis is kicking in and I’m gonna be 66 years old in a week," Hogan said. "I still work out with weights, I use small weights."

Hogan's last wrestling match took place on Jan. 27 2012, per ProFightDB.com. It was a show on the TNA Maximum IMPACT tour; Hogan teamed up with James Storm and Sting - and the trio defeated Bully Ray, Kurt Angle and Bobby Roode in a six-man tag match.

The Hulkster turns 66 years of age in August, so it's no surprise that he's accepting retirement now. It is disappointing that he never got that epic sendoff match, but at the same time, he deserves plenty of credit for knowing when it was time to hang up the wrestling boots.

What This Means

Hogan endured a remarkable wrestling career that spanned nearly four decades, and he has nothing left to prove in the ring. Many wrestling legends don't know when it's time to accept retirement, but Hogan wasn't among them. He went out on a strong note and continues to stay active with WWE on a non-wrestling basis. That'll do just fine for him.
