Impact's Co-Executive Vice President (VP) Don Callis wants heels cool heels to go away.

The concept of kayfabe in wrestling today is almost non-existent because of the internet and the knowledge that most fans now have, and some fans now see the moves as more important than characters. Yet, the heel/face (good guy/bad guy) dynamic is key to wrestling, and Impact Wrestling VP Don Callis has strong feelings on that topic in particular.

Callis, who has been in the wrestling business for an incredibly long time is sick of seeing "cool heels" in wrestling, he thinks that they should become a thing of the past, and he discussed all this and more on his Killing The Town podcast.

"The cool heel is something that should probably be extinct," said Callis. "It is never good if you are a young wrestler, and there's a bizzillion of them out there. Please don't be a cool heel. Cool heels are infuriating because the babyface already has a hard job to do. In one way, being a babyface is easy, because you just have to listen, in other [ways] it's hard because, with the exception of a select few people who are very comfortable doing that babyface thing, it is a hard thing to do. So, don't make the babyface's job harder by being the cool guy in the match, and now he's just the goofy babyface."

With people in WWE like The Revival and AJ Styles when he was a heel, it’s clear to see what Callis is saying. It made it harder for Superstars like Roman Reigns to get over as a face, and even though the crowd's distaste for Reigns won’t change anytime soon, everyone needs to work together to give the WWE Universe and wrestling fans the best characters and stories. This probably isn’t going to change anytime soon, especially in the WWE, because kayfabe isn’t ever going to come back, but if the WWE and all of wrestling make the effort to at least try (look at Ciampa in NXT) to make heels pure, hateable characters again, it could help the overall product.

So what do you guys think? Do you cheer heels because they are cool or because of how bad the faces are? Who are your favorite cool heels these days? As always, let us know all your thoughts and ideas in the comments below.
