Leon Ruff may have defetaed Isaiah “Swerve” Scott on this week’s episode of WWE NXT, but the victory was not necessarily the highlight of the match. After his win, Ruff leaned in to shake Scott’s hand but was greeted by the swerve.

“I’m tired of you getting handed everything while I gotta scratch and claw for everything… this is Swerve’s time. This is Swerve’s house,” Scott said.

After the match, Scott brutally attacked Ruff, officially turning heel. Scott, who believes that Ruff has had an easy ride, ended the segment asking when he’s going to get his North American title shot.

Scott, best known for his work in Major League Wrestling (MLW), Evolve Wrestling and Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW), where he is a former MLW World Heavyweight Champion, Evolve Champion and CZW World Heavyweight Champion, signed with WWE in April 2019.

The 30-year-old wrestler made his debut against Cameron Grimes, a dark match held before the May 1, 2019, NXT television tapings. Since then he’s had a series of unsuccessful attempts at a title. At Worlds Collide on January 25, 2020, Scott challenged for the Cruiserweight Championship in a fatal four-way match against Travis Banks, Jordan Devlin, and then-champion Angel Garza, but lost.

On April 12, Scott was revealed as a participant in a tournament to determine the interim NXT Cruiserweight Champion, representing Group B in the tournament, where he was defeated by Akira Tozawa and Gentleman Jack Gallagher.

Then, on the September 1 episode of NXT Super Tuesday, Scott and Breezango, aka Tyler Breeze and Fandango, defeated Legado del Fantasma in a Six-Man Street Fight after Scott pinned Santos Escobar, which earned him a title shot at NXT TakeOver: 31. At the event, however, he lost to Escobar.

Afterward, he entered the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament, where he joined forces with Jake Atlas, but the two were eliminated from the tournament by the eventual winner MSK, aka Nash Carter and Wes Lee. Despite his string of losses, Scott seems ready to make his mark in WWE. Now, it’s just a question of who will succumb to Swerve’s wrath.
