Cleveland Cavaliers shooting guard J.R. Smith isn't a happy camper after being informed of the NBA's intention to fine him every game next season if he doesn't cover his new tattoo.

Smith, who seems bent on beginning next term as poorly as he ended the last one - the player made a huge gaffe nearing the end of Game 1 in the finals against the Golden State Warriors by not scoring after grabbing a rebound because he thought the Cavs were ahead - has gotten himself a tattoo of the 'Supreme' streetwear brand logo on his right calf and has been warned that he should cover it up during games as it's a violation of league policy.

Per NBA rules, players are prohibited from displaying any commercial logos or corporate insignia on their bodies or hair. And, while Smith has confirmed that he wasn't paid to get the tattoo, it's still in contravention of NBA laws.

"So I was informed today that I would be fined every game if I don't cover up my 'SUPREME TATTOO' on my legs during games!!" Smith posted in an Instagram photo. "These people in the league office are something else!"

He's probably going to get fined for that as well considering the fact that he accompanied his statement with a middle-finger emoji (we've taken that bit off).

"I swear I'm the only person they do s**t like this too," he added in the caption. "So you mean to tell me I have to cover up my tattoo for what? You don't make people cover up Jordan logos or Nike checks or anything else but because it's me it's a problem all of a sudden!!! S**t wack."

Smith's reputation seems to be the biggest factor here and the league's warning does seem a bit harsh although it's easy to understand why they'd want him to cover it up.

But if the guard wants to keep his supreme logo exposed during games next season, he'll simply have to pay.
