If there was ever any doubt about whether or not the Houston Rockets want to add Carmelo Anthony to the roster, just ask Rockets' star, James Harden. Harden suggested he would not only be ok with it but that it would be a "great acquisition" for the team.

Harden recently told Matt Young of the Houston Chronicle, "It would be a great acquisition for us. Melo's a proven vet. He just wants to win at this point, so it would be great for him to be on our team."

After losing a number of strong players in free agency, the Rockets are still considered contenders in the Western Conference but not as strong a team as they were before the summer began. Harden seems to believe Anthony could help. Still strong in the faith the Rockets will be contenders, Harden added, "The current roster we have now, we've got good guys back and we keep making forward progress."

Anthony was recently traded by the Oklahoma City Thunder to the Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks are expected to buy out Anthony's contract, making him a free agent and eligible for a move to Houston, where it's long been rumored Anthony would like to go.

The Rockets are one of a few teams who has spoken with Carmelo's team and with Harden's recent comments, that makes both Rockets' franchise stars — Harden and Chris Paul — players who have publicly shown their support for an Anthony to Houston move. Yahoo Sports' Jordan Schultz reported earlier this month that Paul was campaigning for the Rockets to pursue Anthony.

While there is some history between Anthony and Rockets' coach Mike D'Antoni, there are a lot of reasons Anthony to Houston makes sense. He and Paul are close friends, the Rockets need forward depth after losing Trevor Ariza and Luc Mbah a Moute during free agency and in the right situation, Anthony can be a difference-maker.

For Anthony, if he's looking to finally win that NBA Championship that has illuded him over his NBA career, Houston would be a team that would give him a legitimate shot. This would be a roster that includes three stars, none of which who have won an NBA Title. There may be no more hungry a team in the NBA.
