While Jason Jordan nurses injuries that have kept him out of WWE action for quite some time, reports are he's shadowing the job of a producer backstage and potentially setting himself up for a role behind the scenes.

Jordan is now the second wrestler rumored to be potentially transitioning to a role backstage with the company. Earlier this week it was learned that Matt Hardy was posing the possibility of retirement because injuries are possibly bringing him to the near end of his in-ring career.

Jordan has also dealt with injuries. Serious neck problems have kept him out of the active lineup and with no timetable set for his return, he too might be considering a future in WWE, not as a wrestler. He's been rumored to be ready for a return, only to find out those rumors haven't been true and now it seems his injuries may be worse than expected.

PWInsider reported that Jordan was the producer for the Peyton Royce vs. Naomi match that took place on this week’s episode of Smackdown Live. With the Iiconics and Naomi set to possibly start a feud, it will be interesting to see if WWE is hoping Jordan can take over the role of producing that rivalry.

If WWE is grooming both Hardy and Jordan for backstage roles in WWE, it has to be assumed a couple things are happening. First, their injuries are likely severe and the potential is that the company views neither man as likely to return to the ring full time. Second, the company must see something in their ability to construct a match.

It would be a shame if Hardy, Jordan, and Paige were all lost permanently to injuries but it's a good sign WWE has work waiting for both if their wrestling days are, in fact, over.
