WWE.com announced on Tuesday that superstar Jason Jordan had surgery on his neck, though they weren't able to provide a timeline on his return. Dr. Joseph Maroon said that it was "a minimally invasive operation to decompress the nerve, to allow it to heal."

Jordan's neck injury came to light in January, and WWE was using him minimally in matches to ensure he didn't worsen it. The storyline son of Raw GM Kurt Angle was in the midst of a big push that saw him work together with Seth Rollins - where they were briefly the brand's Tag Team Champions.

Jordan's wife, April Everhart, issued a statement on his neck injury - and said he "will be back in no time."

Multiple reports have said that Jordan could be out for a year or longer, but this doesn't appear to be serious. But neck injuries are always scary and can be unpredictable. Paige's in-ring career is reportedly over after she suffered a "stinger" during a house show in December. Edge and 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin also retired after being plagued by severe neck injuries.

Jordan was introduced as Angle's storyline last year, and received a major push as he faced top talents like Roman Reigns. With Dean Ambrose suffering a knee injury that will keep him out nine months, Jordan became the unofficial third member of The Shield.

But despite the big push, Jordan's mediocre mic skills have caused much of the WWE Universe to boo him, despite portraying a babyface character. Nonetheless, Jordan is one of the top young talents in the ring, and could be a major main event superstar in the near future.

We can only hope that Jordan will not be out long-term, and that he will return soon. The injuries to Samoa Joe, Dean Ambrose and Big Cass were bad enough as is. WWE cannot afford to be without another top star.
