Jayson Tatum came up with a fabulous excuse for getting shown up during the Boston Celtic's preseason clash with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday night.

The Cavs beat the Celtics 113-102 at their Quicken Loans Arena - mind, for the second time in the preseason without LeBron James - and it was quite the feisty affair as J.R. Smith and Marcus Smart created a fresh rivalry ahead of the upcoming campaign.

In lighter news, however, second-year star Tatum would find himself on the floor after being crossed by Sam Dekker en route to a lay-up that capped off an impressive solo move. And he found something to blame it on after Bleacher Report posted a video of the play on Twitter.

Tatum responded to the tweet by claiming he stepped on Terry Rozier's sneakers. But he fashioned his rebuttal in a way that may have rubbed the guard, as well as his sponsors Puma, the wrong way.

"I stepped on Terry's weak a** Pumas," he tweeted. And he might have a point as he did appear to tread on his teammate's foot before sprawling to the hardwood.

Tatum has since deleted the tweet, but not before it could be spotted by several news outlets. And, Of course, his response couldn't have possibly gone down well with Rozier, who earns some of his bread by being one of the NBA players in the Puma lineup.

Rozier joined the likes of Rudy Gay, DeAndre Ayton, Marvin Bagley III, Michael Porter Jr. and Zhaire Smith as Puma athletes back in July. And the sportswear brand only recently added new Golden State Warriors star DeMarcus Cousins to their growing list of NBA stars.

"Me signing with Puma is basically letting you know, I'm taking over the Puma world. You got guys taking over Adidas, you got guys taking over Nike...whatever," Rozier said after inking his deal over two months ago.

"I'm competing with the Puma world and I'm taking over that s**t. From the jump. That's my whole thing. I feel like I'm going to turn it up because - I ain't gonna knock nobody on Puma, but I feel like I'm very marketable, I'm the guy that they needed to sign."
