Jeff Hardy has revealed that the road to recovery from his latest injury is more than likely going to be a long one.

The Hardy Boyz got one of the biggest pops in recently wrestling history when they returned to WWE at WrestleMania 33. In the two years since then, a lot has happened. Matt Hardy has become woken, Jeff Hardy has been United States Champion, and together the brothers have held Tag Team Titles on both Raw and SmackDown Live.

The latest of those title reigns came to an end just two days ago. Due to a knee injury suffered by Jeff, he and Matt were forced to relinquish the championships. In storyline, the injury has been blamed on Lars Sullivan. However, in reality, it is simply due to the wear and tear the body part has suffered for more than 20 years.

Jeff shed some light on the extent of his knee issues during a short interview with WWE's Kayla Braxton. It might be something WWE is using as part of an angle, but the problem is very real. Jeff revealed that he will undergo surgery later this week and will effectively be having his entire knee replaced. That sadly means we have definitely seen the last of him for a while.

Jeff even threw a timeframe on his recovery, and the forecast is bleak. The veteran will be out of action for between six and nine months. That means we might not see him back in a WWE ring until early 2020. He could even be an early entry on the list of Superstars who return the night after WrestleMania 36. Since WrestleMania 35 was less than a month ago, that probably isn't something Jeff wants to contemplate.

Jeff also points out during the interview that he has been blessed throughout his career. Despite the crazy style he has adopted, he didn't really suffer any serious injuries until very recently. It seems as if his hard-hitting career is now starting to catch up with him. While we hope we haven't seen the last of Jeff in the ring for good, we also hope that he knows when to say enough is enough.
